Probable

Probable is the mildest designation still worth listing. A player carrying it is usually managing something minor and is expected to be available.

The NBA formally removed 'probable' from its designation list in 2016, folding those players into simply being available, but the term survives in common usage, on many data feeds, and in how fans and media describe status. You will still see it, which is why it's worth knowing.

Because probable rarely changes availability, its real value is context rather than prediction: it tells you a player is carrying something, which can matter for minutes limits even when they do play.
