Privacy Policy

Sharpe Picks is a sports research tool. This page describes what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control or delete it. We have made it as plain-English as we can — if any section is unclear, please contact us.

What we collect

Account data

When you sign in, our auth provider (Clerk) issues you a user ID and stores your email address, optional first/last name, and an optional avatar. We mirror those fields to our database so we can bind your saved data (favorite teams, picks, preferences) to your account. We never see or store your password — Clerk handles authentication end-to-end.

Usage data

We track per-day counters of features that are rate-limited (AI chat sends, player searches) so we can enforce free-tier caps and show you what's remaining. These are stored as small per-user counters, not as a transcript of what you asked.

Picks tracker

If you log a practice pick, we store the pick details (sport, teams, market, line, your stake, optional notes) so we can grade it once the game finals. Picks remain associated with your account until you delete them.

Push notifications

If you opt into injury alerts, we store the browser-issued push endpoint, your favorited team IDs, your active sport(s), and an optional quiet-hours window so the fan-out only targets the right device at the right time. We never use this channel for marketing.

Subscription data

If you upgrade to Pro, our payment processor (Stripe for web, Google Play / RevenueCat for the Android wrapper) handles your payment. We store only the platform identifier and current plan — never your card number, billing address, or full transaction history. Manage or cancel directly in the Stripe customer portal or the Google Play Store.

Cookies + analytics

We use first-party cookies for authentication (set by Clerk) and to remember your active sport + theme. We use Vercel Analytics to count page views and measure performance. Vercel Analytics is privacy-respecting — no cross-site tracking, no third-party identifiers, no fingerprinting.

What we DON'T do

• We don't sell your data to anyone.
• We don't share your data with advertisers or run ad networks. Sharpe Picks is funded by Pro subscriptions, not ads.
• We don't place bets, accept wagers, or process gambling transactions. Sharpe Picks is research/information only.
• We don't use your data to train AI models. The Groq-hosted LLM that powers /chat receives only the live game context and your message — no profile data, no chat history retained on our servers beyond the session.

Where data is stored

Sharpe Picks runs on Vercel and uses a Postgres database for user-scoped storage. Live sports data is fetched from public ESPN endpoints; odds data (when enabled) comes from The Odds API. Our infrastructure is hosted in the United States.

How long we keep it

• Account data: for as long as your account exists. Deleting your account removes it.
• Picks history: for as long as your account exists, unless you delete individual picks.
• Push subscriptions: until you turn off notifications, sign out, or your browser revokes the subscription.
• Server logs: rolling 7-day window for operational debugging. Logs are automatically rotated by Vercel.

Your controls

You can manage everything we store from /settings:

• Edit / remove favorite teams (bulk-clear available)
• Toggle which sports notify you and override the default quiet-hours window
• Open the Stripe billing portal to view + cancel your subscription
• Sign out (clears the local push subscription on this device)

To delete your account entirely, contact us (see below). We'll remove your account, every row tied to your user ID, and any push subscriptions registered to your devices. The deletion is permanent.

Children

Sharpe Picks is not designed for users under 18. Sports betting research and picks tracking are intended for adults. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we'll close it.

Changes

If we change this policy in any meaningful way, we'll bump the "Last updated" date at the top and surface a notice in-app the next time you sign in.
